Tianyang Han
Born in 1995, Tianyang started to learn the piano at the age of 5. At 14 she was inspired to pursue a career as a professional musician after hearing the famous Chinese pianist Yundi Li perform. Thanks to open-minded parents, she left middle school and started to study professionally with the esteemed teacher Danwen Wei and his assistant Lei Wang, entering the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in 2009.
During this period Tianyang achieved outstanding results in The 16th Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition, winning the Second Class Award in the Youth Class and the Fourth Prize Award in the Chopin Ballade or Scherzo Class. She also received the Third Prize in the Shenyang Conservatory of Music Competition in 2011 and 2013. Other highlights during this time period include attendance at the Italian Music Fest, Perugia, in 2010 and 2012, where she performed the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No.1 with Sergei Babayan conducting.
In 2014, Tianyang received offers to study at Manhattan School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institution of Music, Mannes School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). She chose to embark on undergraduate study at the RNCM with Graham Scott - the headmaster of Keyboard Study , receiving the prestigious Lord Rhodes Scholarship to support her study. She was in the final of RNCM concert audition in 2017. In 2018, she received scholarship and travel fund to join the 29th Semaine International de Piano & Musique de chambre festival. In 2019, she was selected to compete in Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition. In the same year, she was chosen to perform in a masterclass by Simon Nicholls on Scriabin Day. Later that year, she went to the United States of American to audition at the Manhattan School of Music and she was offered a guaranteed place under scholarship. In 2024, she received full scholarship to attend the Sipiano festival in Blonay, Swtizerland where she had masterclasses with Francois Dumont, Jarred Dunn, Phillpo Gamba and Edith Fisher, she was then invited to perform in the concert at the end of the festival.

She also had the opportunity to have masterclasses with Daumantas Kirilauskas, Sergejs Osokins, Marc Silverman, Michel Beroff, Pavlina Dokovska, Jerome Lowenthal, Jeffrey Cohen, Gwhyneth Chen, Solomon Mikovwky, Jorge Pepi-Alos, Josep Colom, Jarred Dunn, Edith Fisher, Francois Dumont.

Other than solo performance, Tianyang has also been playing regularly with her piano trio - Valette trio, and they played some great repertoire like Ravel piano trio, Tchaikovsky piano trio and Haydn Gipsy Rondo piano trio. The Valette piano trio won the Hirsch Prize, Nossek Prize and Weil Prize within two years, and was selected to be the only group to present Royal Northern College of Music in the 2018 Intercollegiate Piano Trio Competition. The piano trio has been performing in various venues in England.

During her time at high school and college, Tianyang has made connections and that has led to a few teaching opportunities, one of her pupil just recently received his music scholarship to Eton College. After working as the accompanist in Brighton College for a year, she is now teaching in both Loughborough Schools Foundation and Cheltenham College.

Away from the piano, Tianyang enjoys ice-skating, reading, walking, and exploring other art forms.
